079 / Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band by The Beatles, 1967

"It was 50 years ago today Sgt. Pepper told the band to play..."

Today is Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band's 50th Anniversary (in the UK anyway)! If you are a fan of the Beatles, please be sure to check out the crazy anniversary edition box sets (so insane).

I love this album so much, so of course I'm not picking a song -- however I think... I THINK... my favorites are "Within You Without You", "When I'm Sixty-Four", and "A Day In The Life".

"To commemorate the album, the Beatles’ record companies have just released a remixed version designed to appeal to modern ears... To mark the anniversary of its June 1, 1967, release, the album has been remixed by Giles Martin, son of George Martin and a producer in his own right. Martin has said he was guided by the original mono mixes done by his father, Emerick and the studio crew. [via St. Louis Post-Dispatch]
